FIX THIS UPLOADING ISSUE

It's amazing how long one can leave a wiki up with a mod database especially when no one can upload decently large (20 MB or so) files! Fix this as soon as you read this. The issue I am guessing likely has to do with this. This isn't the first time I alerted you of this issue by the way, more like the third in the span of several months.

-Nil

Yep, that had something to do with it, but the main issue was issues between an extension and PHP 5.3.0, which I couldn't upgrade to until I removed the conflicting wiki extension. But I didn't realize that was the issue, so I did a reinstall from scratch and moved the HDM info to the new installation. It all works correctly now. :D

Discussion

I can't help but think that this page is really illegal.

-Nil

Probably true, but so is modding and reverse-engineering software, isn't it? I know we've had this discussion several times, I'm just being corny. I understand and thank you for pointing this out. At this point, I'm not sure that the page is actually being used. It will eventually become popular, so I'll have to consider more thoroughly the presence of that one file. My main justification is for easy-of-use (letting people download everything pre-setup in one file) and for survival of the content published. Files have a tendency to disappear as web servers come and go and free hosts prune uploaded files. Dead links = lost history!

Fortune and Stealth failed on uploading mods correctly. Well, for Fortune's case, he isn't in the modders group and he linked to a page that linked to a mediafire page, which is wrong.... Anyway, I suggest not allowing people to edit the mod database page (and perhaps others) unless they are in the modders user group. Also, Fortune has two usernames or something, for some reason.

-Nil

ehhh... how to delete files? lol uploaded bad image (wanted a smaller one...) but i dinna know how to delete it lol

Wikis don't really support deleting files; just upload a revised version. If you really need a file deleted completely, let me know and I'll do it.... I just did it ;P
ty! lol.... ~xxx~

Hey Sparky. Uploading files all of a sudden stopped working for me. After it finished processing the file, it does not do anything, and does not display the "are you sure you want to save this file since it is over this file size" anymore. -NIl

Yeah that's been happening to me too. I'm looking into it. I removed ImageMagik, but that shouldn't have affected it. I'll check the wiki settings and do some testing.--UNSC 03:55, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
It's working again, and I didn't change anything ;) --UNSC 04:44, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
Still not working for me :| -Nil
Try logging out and back in again. --UNSC
I'm getting a similar issue again. Check my PM on MGM. -Nil

Post your HDM sub-domain and E-mail requests here

I uh.... Tokage is.... <insert Tokage's request plead here>. There we go. :P --Tokage

What do you want the subdomain and e-mail addresses to be? I'm guessing:

tokage.halodemo.net / tokage.halodemomods.com and tokage@halodemo.net / tokage@halodemomods.com
...but let me know for sure.

I like the halodemomods.com ones :P

K, guys, Ive FINALLY finished my Internal Combustion Mod (Before it was called Anti-Grav Flashlight mod) So, sparky, If you send me a PM at MGM, Ill give you the link! -Mike7766

How do you upload mods??? -Stealth

  • 1. Login
  • 2. Click on "Upload File" in the toolbox menu at the left side. You can upload files once you are member of the HDM modders group.
  • 3. Select the file from your HD using the upload form and click the button to start the upload. It will look like the page is loading while the file is being uploaded. Wait for it to finish.
  • 4. Copy the file page's link starting with "File:" and go to the Mod Database. There, find the mod that alphabetically comes before your mod and click on "edit" next to that previous entry.
  • 5. Using the same format of that previous entry, add another entry just below for your mod. You can upload a screenshot and add the resized image like has been done with other mods with previews. Let me know if you have any more questions :D

Thanks! -Stealth

Um.... can you give me a sub-domain sparky? Stealth

Hi it's WIL KinG thanks for letting me join the modders group but I don't quite understand steps 4 and 5 on uploading mods. Can someone explain it to me?

Sure! Look at the top of your browser, where you type in URL addresses. Copy the very end of it, which should be just the name of the file, such as "File:My_Cool_Mod.zip". Now go to the Mod Database and find the category for your mod (single player, multiplayer, etc.). Within that category, find where your mod should fit alphabetically. Now in order to add your mod, you need to click the "Edit" link to the right of the entry that comes just before where your mod should go.
Now you're at the edit page. Look at the format used for that previous entry, and add yours after the entry that you see in the text field. Don't change the entry you see there! (If it helps, you can start a new line, select all, and option-drag the previous entry to duplicate it below.) Paste your mod's filename into the title, like the previous entry. You can also upload a screenshot and add and resize it in your entry like other mod entries have. Basically, use the previous entry as a template, but make sure you're adding your entry at the end of what you see in the input box, otherwise you'll be overwriting a previous mod entry.

Galaxy wars windows compatibale

Hey, is there a way u can make galaxy wars compatibale w/windows? - A I D 19:40, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

That's a great idea, I'll keep it in mind. I am planning on developing it with CE first, then converting to demo and working from there. However, making a Halo Trial version seems possible.
Thanks! - A I D 14:11, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Mac vs PC

Is there a way for me to convert halo PC mods to Mac, because when I tried my mod on a mac there was an exception data. thx - A I D 23:30, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Yes, if you have Halo Full's map files. The tools you would use are on the tools page here, either Queen Anne's Revenge or Pearl.
--UNSC 22:35, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
ok thx. Also, is there a way to swap CE BSP with Estachon without converting the CE map? - A I D 22:42, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
I don't know; you can try it! Altimit01 would know more about that - contact him at MGM.
--UNSC 18:51, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll do that. - A I D 20:27, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
