It would be very difficult to modify Halo maps without some really amazing tools. Here they are!

Install these files into your system in order to improve functionality or compatibility.

Xbox ADPCM CODEC for MSACM

Download: File:Xbox adpcm codec.zip

Requirements: This has only been tested on Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

Trivia: "XBox ADPCM fares better with short sounds you hear frequently, i.e. gunshots. OGG compression is better for long sounds or a "library" of sounds, like music or dialogue." - p0lar_bear

Install this file in order to use the Xbox format when making sound tags with Tool.

Right-click on the XBADPCMinst file and select Install from the menu. Ignore any warnings that say the file isn't certified by MS. Further instructions are included with the download.

The Music of Halo Full

Sparky's Scenario Madness

Sparky's Scenario Madness is a series of scenario tags released in map files that can be used as starter build maps or simply a resource on which to use Eschaton to extract the scnr tag and import it into another map. Volume 1 has two scenarios, one per map file. The first contains a maximum number of references except those used by AI, and the second is bare-boned except a single AI set of references.

Applications

Halo Editing Kit (HEK)

The HEK was the original set of modding tools for Halo CE. In general, these tools require Halo CE and are used together to create and modify content for the game.

Sapien provides a visual interface for modifying scenario, scenario BSP, and globals tags. It's similar to modifying the map as you play it in-game. Use this tool to more easily populate the scenario file, add scripts, and create light maps.
